About this site and blog
The site and blog are currently (March 2009) in process of reorganisation – in fact almost complete rebuilding. When it was first launched the original format looked quite good but as time has passed fashions and standards have changed so we must change with the times.
Currently the blog is fully functional, and I’ll gradually be transferring articles from the old articles section of the original site and posting them as blog contributions with updates where appropriate.
Our online garden shop will take a little longer as we’re reconstructing it “from the ground up”. The UK shop will come first, followed later by a shop for our American friends.
Don’t forget our separate bookselling site where we have an extensive range of garden books. Some books will continue to be mentioned and reviewed here, but the range at our BrunleaBooks store is much larger.
Who are we?
By the way, just to introduce myself a bit better. My name is David Murray. I live in a small village near Newark-on-Trent in England with my wife Hilda. Since moving to our present house over four years ago we’ve been making a garden out of what previously was more or less wall-to-wall grass.
I’ve grown fuchsias for many years, but at our previous house didn’t have a greenhouse so was limited in what could be done, and in any case a professional life involving frequent absences overseas meant that it was difficult to be a serious grower. Now that I’m (semi-)retired I’m hopeful of being able to do more. Fuchsias are likely to be a frequent topic in the blog and I’m also building a specialist fuchsia site. Hostas are another enthusiasm, and last year for the first time I tried growing several varieties of aquilegia. I suspect that these might well provide another favourite occupation.
So that’s me, and this is the blog, (Gardening-Notes)
